Ceramics

John Booth first exhibited ceramics at his last show at the Grapevine Gallery in Norwich. He had visited Vulci in Italy, an important town of the ancient Etruscans that flourished between 6th - 4th century BC. He was impressed with the small early pots which were displayed in the museum there. His thrown pots are created on a kick wheel, they are then burnished and bisque fired and subsequently reduction wood fired. They can be displayed in groups like an installation to evoke the feeling of discovering the past.
Recently he has thrown larger ribbed forms. These are glazed in an opaque white tin glaze.
All the pots are stamped on the base with the artist's initials JB.
